Chocolate teenage lungs

#VAPENJOUWKEUZE

Challenge

Nicotine products are still easy for young people to see and buy, especially in convenience stores and gas stations near schools. The sooner these products are removed from those places, the better we can protect young people from nicotine addiction.

Our goal was to create a campaign to convince Members of Parliament to vote for an earlier ban on selling nicotine products in convenience stores and gas stations – moving it from 2032 to 2028.

This would make nicotine products less visible and harder for young people to get, especially since many of these stores are close to schools. The vote happens on April 24, 2025.

Solution

Just days before the debate, Easter falls on April 20 and 21-a time that symbolizes hope, new beginnings, and life overcoming death. This perfectly reflects the spirit of the legislation, which aims to protect teenagers-young people who haven’t smoked or vaped yet and still have clean lungs.

To highlight this, instead of the usual Easter eggs, we sent the undecided VVD party chocolate teenage lungs, handmade by students from the Brood- en Banketbakkersschool. This playful gift carried a serious message: protect young lungs and encourage support for the amendment.

Danielle Cohen (Vapenjouwkeuze) and Károly Illy (Board member of the Smoke-Free Generation and the Lung Foundation) personally handed over the chocolate lungs to Member of Parliament Judith Tielen (VVD) at the Dutch House of Representatives, urging real action for a nicotine-free generation.
